Gideon
Oct 30, 2025 • Rev. Brian Litch
This week we meet Gideon—not as a hero, but as a hider. Threshing wheat in a winepress, he was the youngest in the weakest clan, crushed under seven years of Midianite oppression. Israel cried out; God answered—not with a rescue, but a call.
“Mighty warrior!” God says.
“Pardon me, my Lord?” Gideon says.
Yet God didn’t just ‘fix’ Gideon’s fears—He ignited his faith with a promise:
“I will be with you.”
From tearing down his father’s altar, to laying out two fleeces, Gideon obeyed God—shaking, doubting, but also moving. God doesn’t always remove our insecurities; He repositions us to trust.
