Paul never misrepresents the cost of disciple-making.  If you are going to say “yes” to Jesus’ mission, it’s going to cost you.  It’s easy to preach that following Jesus makes your life better.  But it’s false advertising if you don’t also tell people that following Jesus will cost them.  Suffering is a constant reality in this world.  But Paul reminds Timothy that there is something far older and far more powerful than suffering–God’s grace for us in Jesus Christ
